Earlier this year I was working on backporting new minecraft features to 1.7.3. I'm willing to share what I got so it could be added to New Frontier Craft if wanted. Most of it is basic, I put most time into the skylands and biomes, as I didn't use any existing mods and documentation is very hard to find these days.

- Improved and implemented Skylands
- Added Biomes
- Added Mobs
- Added Portal
- Added "SkyFall" Method
- Added Day/Night Cycle
- Food/Crops
- Added potatoes (including baked, poisonous), carrots, beetroot, melon.
- Added seeds for new crops.
- Added new food products like beetroot soup, pumpkin pie.
- Added new fish.
- Added new meats.
- Added nethwart.
- Added jungle and acacia saplings.
- Gathering/Crafting
- Rewrote mob drops to allow different drops of different types from the same mob.
- Added Coal Block.
- Added Redstone Block (doesn't power yet).
- Added craftable Polished Andesite, Diorite and Granite.
- Added stone/nether bricks.
- Gave charcoal a texture.
- Removed tallgrass from overworld biomes (except jungle).
- Added Wooden Plank Variants (Oak, Spruce, Birch, Jungle, Acacia).
- Added Log Variants (Jungle, Acacia)
- Added golden nuggets as a rare drop from zombie pigdudes.
- Tilling dirt now returns seeds, and a rare chance to return a potato, poisoned potato, carrot or beetroot seeds.
- Generation
- Added the new savanna biome (didn't overwrite the old one).
- Added the jungle biome (-vines).
- Added Andesite, Diorite, Granite to generation.
- Added pumpkin seeds, melon seeds and netherwart to dungeon chests.
- Other
- Added a portal command that ops can use to warp players to different dimensions.
- Removed sleep night skipping (commented out, can be returned I think).
- Added a debug command to return information.
- Added more information to the F3 screen.
- Added the player's username to the main menu.
- Added more server logging (for things like portals).
- Probably more small things I've forgotten.
