NFC 1.8.1 Mods, Addons, & Plugins
This is the central repository for all mods that have been made specifically for, or are intended or verified for use with, New Frontier Craft version 1.8.1.
NOTE: THESE ARE FOR AN ANCIENT VERSION OF NFC, New Frontier Craft 1.8.1. THIS IS NOT FOR MODERN NFC, ADDONS FOR THE LATEST VERSION CAN BE FOUND HERE
These are addons that are compatible or made to be used with NFC, not addons that are currently a part of NFC.
Note: In NFC 1.8.1, New Frontier Craft requires ModLoader/ModLoaderMP, and therefore supports most addons built on those. Any addons that require these APIs should work with NFC, assuming they don't run into other compatibility issues.
This version uses up most item texture slots, so you may have difficulties installing mods that add more items
It is highly recommended you install either MultiMC or PrismLauncher for using addons with NFC as it greatly simplifies the installation, bugtesting, and issue reporting process. You can find MultiMC on multimc.org and PrismLauncher on prismlauncher.org/. You can find the instance compatible with these launchers for New Frontier Craft on this page.
Note: Regardless of the name of the mod in regards to what version of NFC it was intended for, if a mod is listed on this page it has been verified to work with NFC 1.8.1

Addon Installation Variants
ModLoader
These are the simplest mods to install. Installation of these is the same as any Fabric, Forge, Quilt, etc mod for modern versions. Just add the zip/jar of the mod to the mods folder in your .minecraft directory
For MultiMC/PrismLauncher, the mods folder can be accessed from the MultiMC UI in the Loader mods tab, where you can drag the mods directly into the window to load them in. Or, you can navigate to .minecraft folder for the NFC instance and place the files in the mods folder

Jarmods
These are the old style of mods. Installation is accomplished by adding the files to the Minecraft jar
For MultiMC/PrismLauncher, right click the MultiMC instance (the icon with the text) on the main MultiMC window. Click "Edit Instance". A screen will open up showing you the Version tab of the MultiMC instance; this is where you will install the addons from. Navigate to the right side of this window and find the button labeled "Add to Minecraft.jar". In the window that appears, navigate to, select, and click "Open" on the zip of the mod you're attempting to add.
Custom Mod
Special mods that are installed in non-standard ways. Instructions for how to install will be documented

Bug Fixes
Addons that fix bugs that exist in NFC 1.8.1
Item Texture Extender (v1.0) - Jarmod
Made by Vivian
Description: Moves all NFC item textures to their own separate item texture. This way, more addons for Beta 1.7.3 that add additional items to the game can be made to work with NFC 1.8.1.
Textures follow v3.4+ texture positioning, so all texturepacks for that version and up should have the item textures work correctly.
Note: If attempting to use this with Better Item Tooltips, be sure to install the Item Texture Extender Version of Better Tooltips
Depth Buffer Fix - Jarmod
Made by Mojang, ported by Vivian
Description: Fixes issue on certain GPUs that cause clouds and other parts of the game to have jagged lines everywhere
Aesthetics
Contained in this category are graphical tweaks to the game. If it's just a minor aesthetic change, it's here
Hide Version Text (v1.0) - Jarmod
Made by Vivian
Description: Hides the "Minecraft Beta 1.8.1" version text from the HUD
Enhancements
Stuff that's made to make your life easier when playing NFC. Recipe viewers, chat loggers, in-game maps, and featureset extensions that work to extend NFC even more than it already is are what you'll find here.
Better Item Tooltips (v1.0) - Jarmod
Made by NFC Team, backported to NFC 1.8.1 by Vivian
Standard Version Download: github.com/VivianTheFox/MC-Addons/raw/main/NFC/NFC%201.8.1/BetterTooltips_NFC_1.8.1.zip
Item Texture Extender Compatible Version Download: github.com/VivianTheFox/MC-Addons/raw/main/NFC/NFC%201.8.1/BetterTooltips_NFC_1.8.1_for_ItemTexExtender.zip
If using the Item Texture Extender, be sure to install the compatible version after the Item Texture Extender. Otherwise, use the standard version.
Description: Backport of the enhanced NFC tooltips, circa-NFC v3.5, to NFC 1.8.1
How Many Items (v4.2.0) - ModLoader
Made by Rek
Description: How Many Items is basically for all intents and purposes a remake of Not Enough Items for Beta 1.7.3, and has most of the same functions that you'd find in that mod. If you want to see the in-game recipes for NFC, have a nice and convenient GUI to cheat in and search for items in the game, or to see some of the secret stuff we don't want you otherwise seeing, I recommend installing this mod
Small Additions
Small features and additions to the game that don't change anything major about the gameplay experience
Stone Brick Backport (v1.0) - ModLoader
Ported by Vivian
Description: A simple backport of the T-Cut stone bricks from NFC 1.8.5 to NFC 1.8.1
Expansions and Big Mods
There are a lot of larger mods out there for Minecraft that enhance gameplay. This section is dedicated towards stuff that adds in a large amount of new gameplay features and/or content. If it's a major gameplay expansion that was done by someone else and isn't ever intended to get added to NFC, it'll be here.
The Mallergy Furnace, A Brick Oven Backport (v1.0) - ModLoader
Made by NFC Team, backported by Vivian
Description: A backport of the v3.5 Brick Oven to NFC 1.8.1 in the form of the Mallergy Furnace, a prototype texture for the block. Recipes are the exact same as current Brick Oven recipes, other than those which don't have items that exist involved in them
Recipe
*In NFC 1.8.1, this can be...
Ingredients | Recipe |
7 Cobblestone 1 Tier 1 Metal* |
- Aluminum
- Tin
- Zinc
- Bismuth
- Copper
- or Lead
v3.5 Brick Oven Wiki Page: newfrontiercraft.net/thread/216/brick-oven-v3-5
Ignore information related to Osmium, Magnets, Stained Glass, Cake, & Pizza. All other recipes are 1:1 with NFC v3.5. Burn times are the same as Vanilla Beta 1.7.3/NFC 1.8.1. Sticks and saplings for 5 seconds, wood for 15, coal for 80, and lava buckets for 1000
v3.5 Oregen for NFC 1.8.1 (v1.0) - Jarmod
Made by Vivian
Description: For those that want the old NFC experience, but not the old NFC difficulty.
This addon backports the oregen from NFC v3.5.0 to NFC 1.8.1, making mining in this version much less painful. The Tier system is left unchanged with this addon, so the balancing will still be completely different than current NFC, but this should make seeing the resources from that tier system much easier.
Due to the IDs for these blocks being exchanged between 1.8.1 and v3.5, cobalt replaces v3.5 osmium and cheese ore v3.5 cobalt in the oregen.
A world created with this addon in NFC 1.8.1 should be able to be upgraded to NFC v3.5 with minimal issues, other than some blocks like the old window blocks disappearing.
NFC 1.8.1 Rebalance Addon (v1.0) - Jarmod
Made by Vivian
Description: An alternate take on the old oregen (and the material tier system).
With the exception of wood & stone, this mod unifies & rebalances the stats and oregen of all materials across all tiers. The durability of all armor has been doubled.
Also, steel has been moved from Tier 4 to Tier 5 (Why was it ever on Tier 4?)
Materials aren't necessarily easier to find. It's just that they follow more of a regular pattern now with spawning. Also, a quirk of them is that they tend to overlap one another more often, so if you find something you're likely to find more than one thing.

This can be used alongside the v3.5 Oregen addon if you install that after this. That'll get you the reworked Tier system of the Rebalance with the v3.5 Oregen
Be sure if using this alongside Better Tooltips to install it after that addon, as elsewise Better Tooltips will override important aspects of the Rebalance Addon.
