Any reason why this happens?

That's definitely a very strange issue I haven't seen before. Unfortunately I have no idea specifically why that would occur, but I've got a couple ideas for things you can try.

You can try a different skin
You can make sure you're on Java 8, and if not, try moving to that version.
You can try updating/downgrading your GPU drivers

Beyond those recommendations though, I don't have anything specific in mind as to why you'd be seeing a glitch like that. That's very odd behavior
