This mod redirects the URL of several Minecraft classes that attempt to find the Minecraft skin, and point it to a server hosted by Johnanater which uses an API to retrieve player skins and capes from Mojang from the player name.
This fix has nothing to do with, and uses none of the code from, the 1.8.5 UUID based skin fix. Alex skins will not work with this. Attempts are currently in the works to port the 1.8.5+ skin system to 1.8.4, however I've as of yet been unable to get a port of the system functioning correctly without crashing due to reobfsucation issues.
