NFC 1.8.7 Mods & Addons
This is the central repository for all mods that have been made specifically for, or are intended or verified for use with, New Frontier Craft version 1.8.7.
For all of these mods, installation is accomplished through the classic method of installing mods; by adding them to the jar. For MultiMC, this means clicking the "Add to Minecraft.jar" button and selecting the relative zips that you need to install for the mods, and for the Mojang launcher it means cramming the classes inside the jar manually. I strongly recommend using MultiMC if you're going to be installing any mods for NFC. You can find MultiMC on multimc.org and my MultiMC instance for NFC at the bottom of this page newfrontiercraft.net/thread/116/install-new-frontier-craft

NFC Mod Compatibility List found here
This list acts as a more full list of mods that are verified for use with NFC, due to a desire to not pollute this forums page with every single compatible mod that works with NFC, due to the fact that many more now work with the release of ModLoader v4 and the fix of the texture loading issue from earlier versions of ModLoader that existed for 1.8.6_02.
The Essentials
These will be the core mods that most other mods will require in order to be installed. If a mod needs another mod to be installed first in order to work, it'll be on this list.
ModLoader (v4.12)
(No Requirements)
Made by Risugami, reworked for NFC by Logan.
Old Versions:
www.mediafire.com/file/bbasoqm01yqvgyz/ModLoader_NFC_v4.11.zip/file - Lacks the changes made in v4.12 to ItemArmor and ModLoader that allow for ModLoader armor to load into the game correctly.
AudioMod (v1.1)
This is a port of ModLoader from Beta 1.7.3, patched to work with NFC 1.8.7. Mileage will vary on compatibility with other mods; most large things will crash. For a more full list on what generic Beta 1.7.3 mods will and won't work with ModLoader, I recommend taking a look at the NFC Mod Compatibility List above.
Technical Notes:
To free up more texture slots, there's been a bit of re-engineering to how blocks and items are handled in-game.
Firstly, all NFC related items that were originally contained within the items.png have been moved to items2.png in the NFC directory. For any texturepack, you'll need to copy the items.png to the NFC directory and rename it to items2.png if you want the first set of NFC items to get loaded into the game.
The second thing I've done is I've adapted the stained wood and glass code to be applied also to the wool textures, meaning the 16 separate textures for wool now only take up 1 slot in the terrain.png. This raises the amount of block textures that NFC can load from 7 to 22.
ModLoader for NFC is not a magic bullet that'll solve every compatibility issue with standard Beta 1.7.3 mods. Lots of mods interface with the normal Minecraft code through ModLoader and expect it to work one way, and when it doesn't because NFC changed how that part of the code works it'll likely either not work correctly or just straight up crash.
You'll regularly run into ID Conflicts when trying to install other mods. If this happens, install ID Resolver, as it will fix that specific issue the vast majority of the time.
AudioMod (v1.1)
(No Requirements)
Made by Risugami, including code by Johnanater, reworked and ported to NFC by Logan
This is a simple port of AudioMod to NFC, with code from Johnanater being utilized to patch up some issues with standard AudioMod. Unlike normal AudioMod, this version will work properly with custom installation locations of Minecraft. Meaning you can place the "Mod" resources folder for whatever mod you might be trying to install inside the resources directory in the place NFC is installed, for instance a custom MultiMC directory; rather than being forced to install it to the resources directory within the .minecraft folder within the Roaming folder of Application Data.
TL;DR: It's AudioMod for NFC, and it's MultiMC friendly now.
GuiAPI (v1.1)
(No Requirements)
Made by ShaRose, ported to NFC by Logan
A mod that adds a button to the options screen that allows you to do in-game mod configuration.
ID Resolver (v1.1)
(Requires GuiAPI)
Made by ShaRose, ported to NFC by Logan
Solves the issue of ID conflicts within NFC alongside other mods. You will still run commonly into issues of running out of IDs though, so don't expect this to be the magical solution for playing IC2 and NFC at the same time.
ModLoaderMP (v1.0)
(Requires ModLoader)
Made by ScottyDoesKnow and Jamioflan, ported to NFC by Logan
Client Download: www.mediafire.com/file/i3eo8vhv55wn4ru/ModLoaderMP_NFC_1.8.7.zip/file
This is just the client download for ModLoaderMP. For the same reason that we can't distribute NFC server files, we can't distribute ModLoaderMP for said server files. The server side version of ModLoaderMP for NFC doesn't exist yet.

This mod only serves the purpose of allowing mods to work that require ModLoaderMP to work regardless of whether you're playing in singleplayer or multiplayer. However, once a multiplayer version of ModLoaderMP is made for NFC, this will be compatible with that.
Aesthetics
Graphical tweaks to the game. If it's just an aesthetic change, it's here
Water Shaders (v4.2)
(Requires ModLoader)
Made by Necrowizzard, ported by Logan
This mod is compatible with the water biome colors mod, and will shift the water hue depending on what biome you're in if enabled.
Copy of Readme.txt from installation directory for info and installation instruction
To install the water shaders, first install the "Water Shaders v4.2 Jarmod.zip" folder into your instance of New Frontier Craft.
To do this, either:
A) If using the vanilla launcher, extract the zip and add the class files to the Minecraft.jar
B) If using MultiMC, click the "Add to Minecraft.jar" button in the Version tab in your NFC instance, then select and add the Jarmod zip.
Then, add the shader folder to the "bin" folder of your Minecraft instance.
Mod created by Necrowizzard
Ported by Logan to NFC 1.8.7
Archived Minecraft Forum Original Webpage: https://web.archive.org/web/20170929230957/http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding-java-edition/minecraft-mods/1275991-1-2-5-water-shader-alpha-v5b
Due to how this mod was built, it requires ModLoader to be installed in order to not crash.
Panorama (v1.1)
(No Requirements)
Made by Mojang, ported by Logan
A simple port of the panorama to the NFC main menu. It doesn't use the Beta 1.8 shading and darkening, as I personally think it looks a bit cleaner without it.
This does not perfectly match the appearance of the Beta 1.8.1 main menu, as I'm personally not a fan of the weird shading that's applied to the background that goes over the panorama in the background. Therefore, the panorama only has a blur applied to it, not the whole weird shading thing from the top to the bottom. Plus, you'll see if you play some of the most recent versions of the Java Edition that Mojang agrees with me on this aesthetic choice
Nether Brightness Reducer (v1.0)
(No Requirements)
Made by Logan
In 1.8.7 the overall brightness of the Nether was boosted slightly to make the dimension a bit more tolerable, as there's a bunch of new content featured there in this update and it was decided that being able to see it was a bit more important than the dimension being overly spooky. However, if you want to get that aspect of the Nether back, here's a mod for you
The only affect of this mod is that it makes the minimum brightness of the Nether darker, so the overall dimension is harder to see in. The Nether isn't extremely bright in 1.8.7 in the first place (ignore the lava brightness), but you can definitely tell the dark spots on the left with the mod are darker than the spots on the right without the mod installed.
Bottom Chest Texture (v1.1)
(No Requirements)
Made by Logan
This is just a simple mod that uses one of the slots in the terrain.png for having a custom bottom texture to the chests. The only pack that takes advantage of this at the moment is uwupack
BetterFonts
(No Requirements)
Made by thvortex, ported to Beta 1.7.3 by Dereku, and ported to NFC by Logan
The BetterFonts mod adds TrueType/OpenType font support for Minecraft. This mod will use the fonts installed on your system for drawing text instead of the builtin bitmap fonts that come with Minecraft. Languages such as Arabic and Hindi look much better with this mod since both require complex layout that the bitmap fonts simply can't provide. All in-game text will change to use the new fonts including GUIs, the F3 debug screen, chat, and even signs. This mod should have little or no impact on performance.
Note: To configure the options, you need to copy the BetterFonts.properties file out of the mod zip file to the NFC .minecraft folder. From there, open the properties file with a text editor and you can configure the options from there.
Enhancements
Stuff that's made to make your life easier when playing NFC. Recipe viewers, chat loggers, in-game maps, and featureset extensions that work to extend NFC even more than it already is are what you'll find here.
OptiFine (v3.0)
Coming... eventually
How Many Items (Pre-Release c15)
(Requires ModLoader)
Made by Rek
How Many Items is basically for all intents and purposes a remake of Not Enough Items for Beta 1.7.3, and has most of the same functions that you'd find in that mod. If you want to see the in-game recipes for NFC, have a nice and convenient GUI to cheat in and search for items in the game, or to see some of the secret stuff we don't want you otherwise seeing, I recommend installing this mod
This is only a pre-release version at the moment, and therefore isn't really all that polished for NFC beyond the addition of the Brick Furnace GUI. If you run into random crashes for any reason while using the mod, please do report them so they can be fixed as soon as possible.
Chat Logger (v1.1)
(No Requirements)
(No Requirements)
Made by Logan
A quasi-port of the modern system which Minecraft uses where it outputs the things said in chat into the Minecraft logs. Matches the same format of the modern game, that being what is seen in the attached screenshot.
This is great for archiving conversations and comments that you really like. Preventing you from having to constantly worry about needing to grab a screenshot of what's being discussed.

Fun
The stuff in this category isn't really meant to fit any sort of niche during gameplay. Stuff here was created solely for the purpose of having fun with
You Are The Fox (v1.12)
(No Requirements)
Model and texture by DrZhark, mod by Logan.
MP Compatible Download: www.mediafire.com/file/iw0m8xb48robn32/YATF_v1.12_MP_Edition_%5BNFC_1.8.7%5D.zip/file
Note: MP version doesn't let you go through 1 block openings and the block breaking hitbox will be a bit flickery, but overall everything does work correctly. Use this version only if you want to play in multiplayer.
Turns your player into a fox! Changes the player to be only one block tall to match, letting you slip through smaller openings and the like. Also, blocks, items, and tools are held in the mouth of the fox, as it'd be silly for a fox to hold a tool in its paw
If it wasn't clear, this mod is heavily inspired by the YATC mod by Rotten194
Beds are a bit wonky I've tried to iron out the biggest issues, but if you run into nothing I'll be surprised. It should be stable enough to play on a normal world though, just be wary of beds.
The skinfix has been disabled for obvious reasons, that being the fact that normal skins obviously won't at all work with the fox skin. This skin can be edited via the fox.png file in the mob directory in your jar/texturepack zip
This mod is not compatible with OptiFine (It can be used if installed above YATF, however the mod won't work correctly if you do). Once OptiFine is made compatible, a version of this mod will be released that is compatible with that version of OptiFine

Rainbow Tooltips (v1.0)
(No Requirements)
Made by Logan
It makes the text when you hover over stuff in your inventory go through different colors like a rainbow
That's it
That's it
Expansions and Big Mods
There are a lot of larger mods out there for Minecraft that enhance gameplay. This section is dedicated towards stuff that adds in a large amount of new gameplay features and/or content. If it's a major gameplay expansion that was done by someone else and isn't ever intended to get added to NFC, it'll be here.
PlasticCraft (v2.1.3)
(Requires ModLoader & ID Resolver, AudioMod Optional)
Made by TehKrush
PlasticCraft was a major tech mod that existed back in Beta 1.7.3 that added in a whole new bunch of blocks, all centering around plastic. Plastic tools, blocks, trampolines, speed pads, plastic blocks and plexiglass, and new blocks for cooking like microwave and extractor that allow for the faster cooking of ores and the separation of materials for more efficient output in the case of the extractor
I heavily recommend taking a look at the PlasticCraft Wiki and the video below showcasing the content that the mod adds. I'll note the wiki will contain certain details that aren't accurate as it was made for a version of PlasticCraft newer than the one that this is built off of, so I heavily recommend using How Many Items in order to properly figure out all of the in-game recipes.

There’s an alternative version of PlasticCraft that I created before armor support was added to NFC ModLoader with the release of v4.12 that can be downloaded here www.mediafire.com/file/k309qfqatk3jemt/PlasticCraft_NFC_1.8.7.zip/file
This version of PlasticCraft adds additional recipes for the extractor for NFC ores, alongside tweaking the extractor to work with NFC type fuel sources. Additionally, silicon from PlasticCraft has been removed in this variant, and all references to it have been replaced with NFC silicon. And finally, the long fall boots and night vision goggles are not present in this version, due to the issue described above.
Experimental Features
One concept moving forward is going to be the idea of experimental features. This is stuff that might or might not ever see the light of day in a real NFC update, but that seem interesting or useful enough to be something players can turn on and off at will.

Modern Fence and Wall Dynamics (v1.0)
(No Requirements)
Made by Mojang, ported and reworked by Logan for NFC
This is a simple little mod that tweaks the render code and the wall and fence classes to make them act roughly the same, functionality wise, as the modern versions of these blocks. The bounding boxes and hitboxes have been reduced to the size of the blocks themselves, and they now are able to connect to all solid non-transparent blocks. This also means that blocks can be placed through the fences and walls.
Survival Singleplayer Sprinting (v1.0)
(No Requirements)
Made by Logan
Just a tiny little tweak to the code that lets you sprint in singleplayer survival; making it so the game decides whether or not you can sprint depending on whether you're in a multiplayer world or not instead of your current gamemode.
F3 Mob Tags (v1.0)
(No Requirements)
Made by Logan
This is just a tiny little tweak that reverts a change made in 1.8.7, in which the F3 mob tags were removed. All this mod does is re-enable the code that handles this feature.
