NFC 1.8.6_02 Mods and Addons
Hello everyone, my name is Logan. I've been actively developing many addons and ports of various for New Frontier Craft over the last year, and this page on the forums is the central repository of all of them. Everything I have developed for NFC (that is worth posting that is) is on here.
For all of these mods, installation is accomplished through the classic method of installing mods; by adding them to the jar. For MultiMC, this means clicking the "Add to Minecraft.jar" button and selecting the relative zips that you need to install for the mods, and for the vanilla launcher it means cramming the classes inside the jar manually. I strongly recommend using MultiMC if you're going to be installing any mods for NFC. You can find MultiMC on multimc.org and my MultiMC instance for NFC at the bottom of this page newfrontiercraft.net/thread/65/install-new-frontier-craft

ModLoader
Made by Risugami
Made by Risugami
ModLoader v4.11 for NFC 1.8.6_02: www.mediafire.com/file/ipaswsztwe50qaa/ModLoader_NFC_v4.11_for_NFC_1.8.6_02.zip/file - A port of the version of ModLoader I made for 1.8.7. Allows block and item textures to work. Due to a lack of interest in re-engineering parts of the 1.8.6_02 code to allow for some of the tricks that allowed for more open block textures in the 1.8.7 variant, this variant of ModLoader only has 8 open texture slots for block textures.
ModLoader v3.1 for NFC 1.8.6_02: www.mediafire.com/file/wx26wsxme3txhoe/ModLoader_v3.1_for_NFC_1.8.6_02.zip/file - Much cleaner codebase, compatible with CTM.
ModLoader v3.1 Source Code: www.mediafire.com/file/94v1hmsvpqjz79x/ModLoader_v3.1_SRC_for_NFC_1.8.6_02.zip/file - For use with a NFC workspace
ModLoader for NFC 1.8.6_02 v2: www.mediafire.com/file/o7c743mkkc4usy0/ModLoader_NFC_1.8.6_v2.zip/file - Made with a janky workspace, overall compatibility will be worse. Recommended to not use.
This is a port of ModLoader for Beta 1.7.3, patched to work with NFC 1.8.6_02. Mileage will vary greatly on compatibility with other mods; most large things will crash. If something crashes due to ID conflicts, it's recommended to install ID Resolver.
More complex things like Forge, ModLoaderMP, PlayerAPI, and ShockAhPI are not compatible due to them requiring and editing various classes that New Frontier Craft changes in order to work properly.
Note: This entire page was originally written with v3.1 being the latest version of ModLoader. Compatibility is not guaranteed between v4.11 of ModLoader and anything else on this page. If something is crashing, it's recommended to revert back to v3.1 unless you specifically need the item/block textures for whatever you might be doing.
AudioMod
Made by Risugami
AudioMod for NFC 1.8.6_02: www.mediafire.com/file/p3gm64ljklyt1qa/AudioMod_NFC_1.8.6_02.zip/file
Just a simple port of AudioMod to be made compatible with New Frontier Craft. Nothing less, nothing more.
OptiFine
(No Requirements)
Made by sp614x
OptiFine NFC v2.1: www.mediafire.com/file/chai56vpq40ar55/OptiFine_NFC_v2.1.zip/file - Fixes telescope rendering (mostly, texture still doesn't appear, but telescopes are functional again). Note, if you installed the v2 of this mod then you'll need to place the ItemTelescope.class from a Vanilla NFC 1.8.6_02 installation into your jar.
Optifine for NFC 1.8.6_02 v2: www.mediafire.com/file/0xl6dqaeub4spvc/OptiFine_1_8_6_02_HD_G_v2.zip/file
Optifine for NFC 1.8.6_01 v1: www.mediafire.com/file/i48owe3iodoiae9/OptiFine_1_8_6_02_HD_G.zip/file - Telescopes crash game on use in this version.
Optifine for NFC 1.8.6_01 v1: www.mediafire.com/file/i48owe3iodoiae9/OptiFine_1_8_6_02_HD_G.zip/file - Telescopes crash game on use in this version.
This file includes the entire OptiFine mod including the fix for NFC. Just get this loaded into your NFC jar and you're all set.
FOV is broken in v2.1 of OptiFine.
Telescopes and FOV are broken in v2 of OptiFine
BetaTweaks can patch the FOV issue in v2, however in v2.1 will cause the game to crash when using telescopes. Therefore, it is recommended to use v2 and BetaTweaks if you want FOV, and v2.1 without BetaTweaks if you want telescope zooming.
All these weird quirks will be fixed with the release of version 3 of OptiFine, which will also merge a lot of the smaller graphical tweaks on this page into it.
Also, if you have this installed you need to rename the audio files (in the resources folder) for the default music discs for cat and 13 to %cat and %13. This will be fixed in v3 as well.
How Many Items
(Requires ModLoader)
Made by Rek
Made by Rek
How Many Items for NFC v2: www.mediafire.com/file/oqtzwg32c5q7uak - Fixes the search function and ports icon set from v4.2.0 of HMI. Mod is now fully functional (albeit still without Brick Oven support)
How Many Items for NFC v1: www.mediafire.com/file/rc7zdanjdywwfal - Fixes crafting resolver, search function still broken
How Many Items for b1.7.3: www.mediafire.com/file/e7oax9fjrtoe0et - The original works mostly fine, but the crafting resolver will crash the game in this version due to changes in NFC code from Vanilla b1.7.3. I recommend the NFC specific one linked right above.
Made by Rek, modified by me to solve a few compatibility issues it has with New Frontier Craft. The mod is a port of JEI to Beta 1.7.3, and has most of the same functions that you'd find in that mod.
This mod does not show recipes that require use of the Brick Oven. For those recipes, check out this page
GLSL Shaders
(No Requirements)
Made by daxnitro & Laurina
(No Requirements)
Made by daxnitro & Laurina
GLSL Shaders: www.mediafire.com/file/6exyruvgqi7d2sw/GLSL_for_NFC_1.8.6_02.zip/file
Installation: Add mod to NFC jar. Then you need to add the shaders folder to your .minecraft folder in %appdata%. Shaders do not respect the relative location of where Minecraft is installed, therefore you need to place the shaders folder in your .minecraft folder in appdata. If you don't do this, the game will crash
Now, as to where you'll get a shaderpack for Beta 1.7.3, I'll direct everyone to this directory, full of a bunch of different shaderpacks that I've compiled together, alongside several custom ones that I've optimized for use with NFC.
For any one of these you'll want to place the big giant pile of fsh and vsh files in the shaders folder in .minecraft.
I recommend SEUS NFC and CinemaCraft3.1 shaderpacks from the collection. They're the overall most well built and stable shaders in the pack
The base and final vsh and fsh files are what you'll want to edit to enable and disable certain features of the shaders. And if you want to reload the shaders in-game, click the proper button in video settings to do just that. Don't try and find a specific shaderpack with a specific aesthetic, mess around with the configs to get it looking how you want.
Shaders are not compatible, at all, with OptiFine. And everything that's not compatible with OptiFine or needs a specific OptiFine variant you can also assume will not be compatible with this as well.
Shaders break texture pack switching a bit. If you want to change texturepacks without the game crashing, I recommend changing it when you first start the game.
You Are The Fox
(No Requirements)
Made by Logan, credits to DrZhark for model and texture
Makes the fox model from Mo' Creatures your player model. And with that the viewmodel and player were changed to be only a block tall, letting you slip through smaller openings and the like. Also, blocks, items, and tools are held in the mouth of the fox, as it'd be silly for a fox to hold a tool in its paw
If it wasn't clear, this mod is heavily inspired by the YATC mod by Rotten194
Naturally, the model code and texture belong to DrZhark. However, I would like to note I had to patch up the model code as the ears were horrifically broken and not actually anchored to the head in the original model.

Beds are a bit wonky I've tried to iron out the biggest issues, but if you run into nothing I'll be surprised. It should be stable enough to play on a normal world though, just be wary of beds.
The skinfix has been disabled for obvious reasons, that being the fact that normal skins obviously won't at all work with the fox skin. This skin can be edited via the fox.png file in the mob directory in your jar/texturepack zip
This mod is not compatible with OptiFine (It can be used if installed above YATF, however the mod won't work correctly if you do)
Modern Fence Rendering

Made by me and Mojang
Modern Fence Rendering: www.mediafire.com/file/0pu1d8gdrfiucfq
Modern Fence Rendering for ModLoader: www.mediafire.com/file/7fo8xcte2mk6u1q
Hey there. Do you prefer how the modern fences look? Have you looked at your NFC build and thought "hmm... I really wish I could build a nice looking gate here, but just how do I do that when the fences don't connect to the walls!"
Well look no further than this NFC addon!
Forgot to fix rendering for custom NFC blocks in this version. v1.1 of the mod will patch that.
Huge Screenshots
(No Requirements)
Made by me and Mojang
Huge Screenshots Mod: www.mediafire.com/file/hdyfbewc4ksn00l/Huge_Screenshots_for_NFC_1.8.6_02.zip/file
A mod that had me porting code directly from early Beta to NFC 1.8.6_02. From Beta 1.2_02 to Beta 1.4_01, there was a debug feature left in the game that let you take screenshots that are 36,450×17,700 pixels in the tga file format. This was removed in Beta 1.5, which is an absolute shame as this is a great little feature for taking high quality screenshots.

This mod is not compatible with OptiFine or Water Shaders, as this mod edits the EntityRenderer class in order to work.
Front View Mod
(No Requirements)
Made by me
Vanilla NFC Version: www.mediafire.com/file/kotbn6lfsqb0sm5/NFC_Front_View_Third_Person_Mod_%28Hold_F4%29.zip/file
NFC + OptiFine Version: www.mediafire.com/file/dwpu7lfyhc5pp7f/NFC_+_OptiFine_Front_View_Third_Person_Mod_%28Hold_F4%29.zip/file
A simple mod that lets you view your character from the front. Enabled by holding F4 while in third person mode.
Make sure to install the proper version depending on if you are or aren't using OptiFine
Beta 1.8 Main Menu for NFC 1.8.6_02
(No Requirements)
Made by me and Mojang
Download: www.mediafire.com/file/8944i67guyqz90x/1.8_Main_Menu_Mod_for_NFC_1.8.6_02_with_Quit_Button_Added.zip/file
A simple port of the Vanilla Beta 1.8 main menu to New Frontier Craft 1.8.6_02. Nothing more, nothing less.
Has some issues with OptiFine, where the main menu gets blocky looking and outputs a bunch of errors in the logs while in use. Otherwise, works fine.

Modern Tooltips Addon for NFC 1.8.6_02
(No Requirements)
Made by me and Mojang
Modern Tooltips Addon: www.mediafire.com/file/thjdi8hszyehkpb/Modern_Tooltips_Addon_for_NFC_1.8.6_02.zip/file
A simple graphical port of the modern item tooltips to NFC, the ones with the purple outlines and the more fancy look to them from b1.9pre2 and up.Compatibility should be 100% with everything NFC related.
A simple graphical port of the modern item tooltips to NFC, the ones with the purple outlines and the more fancy look to them from b1.9pre2 and up.Compatibility should be 100% with everything NFC related.
This mod is not compatible with Vanilla b1.7.3, as there have been changes made in the edited class file (id.class - GuiContainer.java) that Zowja made for NFC. There is a separate version out there on the Modification Station Discord if you wish to use this mod with Vanilla. The same applies for most other mods made by me here.
TMI Patch
(No Requirements)
Don't use this with Multiplayer. It will lock up the game.
Made by me
Made by me
TMI Patch: www.mediafire.com/file/aa3ac2t2zkm545b/NFC+TMI+Patch.zip
This was created by me for the sole purpose of trying to fix up TMI... which it kinda does. Without this patch, TMI will just crash if you try to use it with NFC, with this installed it causes everything to show up as "Unnamed". There's some weird issues with music discs and stuff, so I don't recommend using this mod for regular gameplay until I've resolved those and released another version of the mod. This text will be removed when I do that.
Most things are untested and this mod will very likely crash your game for some random reason upon usage. It is highly recommended to use HMI instead of TMI, which you can find above this.
NFC Water Biome Colors Addon
(No Requirements)
Made by me
NFC Water Biome Colors Addon: newfrontiercraft.net/thread/92/nfc-water-biome-colors-addon
Information on the mod can be found on the forum page that is linked.
Bottom side and item texture of water is grey due to the way the colorization of it works in-game
Water Shader for NFC 1.8.6_02
(Requires ModLoader)
Made by Necrowizzard
Water Shader v4.1c for NFC 1.8.6_02: www.mediafire.com/file/s4q8bgm19ibe1z3/Water_Shaders_v4.1c_for_NFC_1.8.6_02.7z/file

- This version has broken stair and slab rendering, it's recommended you use version 4.1
Water Shader Alpha v3b for NFC 1.8.6_02: www.mediafire.com/file/4ubvswc5m6754cc/Water+Shaders+Alpha+v3b+for+NFC+1.8.6.zip - This version is a little less visually appealing than v4c

Note: Water shaders has nothing to do with, and is not at all compatible with, GLSL shaders.
Fully functional and very good looking. Includes the whole mod in the Jarmod zip inside the zip, so no need to worry about trying to scrounge up a download online for the original mod.
Note: For using this mod with OptiFine, you need to install this compatibility patch:
www.mediafire.com/file/bfaqomx3rc06ags/watershadersoptifinecompat.zip/file
If anyone installed the (OptiFine+WaterShaders Compatibility Patch for NFC) file that was here until 9-2-19, that file is broken and doesn't actually work. Delete it and replace it with the file now linked.
This mod is compatible with the water biome colors mod, and will shift the water hue depending on what biome you're in if enabled.
This mod is compatible with the water biome colors mod, and will shift the water hue depending on what biome you're in if enabled.
Copy of Readme.txt from installation directory for info and installation instructions
To install the water shaders, first install the "Water Shaders Jarmod.zip" folder into your instance of New Frontier Craft.
To do this, either:
A) If using the vanilla launcher, extract the zip and add the class files to the Minecraft.jar
B) If using MultiMC, click the "Add to Minecraft.jar" button in the Version tab in your NFC instance, then select and add the Jarmod zip.
Then, add the shader folder to the "bin" folder of your Minecraft instance.

Starry Skies
(No Requirements)
Made by me
A very simple mod. It just makes the stars display at full brightness, regardless of the time of day.
This mod is not compatible with OptiFine
NFC ID Resolver
Made by ShaRose
NFC ID Resolver: www.mediafire.com/file/oq53jj1brrb1vfi/NFC+ID+Resolver.zip
Solves the issue of ID conflicts within NFC alongside other mods. You will still run commonly into issues of running out of IDs though, so don't expect this to be the magical solution for playing IC2 and NFC at the same time.
Chat Logger Mod for NFC
(No Requirements)
Made by me
Chat Logger Mod for NFC 1.8.6_02: www.mediafire.com/file/araikn74woxuj2v/Chat_Logger_Mod_NFC_1.8.6.zip/file
A quasi-port (made by me) of the modern system which Minecraft uses where it outputs the things said in chat into the Minecraft logs. Matches the same format of the modern game, that being what is seen in the attached screenshot.
The § symbol is a normally invisible character in the chat that denotes what color to display the character as to the client. It is not quite a bug, as it is just a lack of hiding what Minecraft normally does. Regardless, if I get around to releasing another version of this mod it will filter out those characters.
This is great for archiving conversations and comments that you really like. Preventing you from having to constantly worry about needing to grab a screenshot of what's being discussed.
Texturepack Folder Loader for NFC 1.8.6_02
(No Requirements)
Made by me and Mojang
Texturepack Folder Loader: www.mediafire.com/file/yubxpavndtutgla/Texturepack_Folder_Loader_NFC_1.8.6_02.zip/file
Ports code directly from Release 1.2.5 allowing you to load texturepacks that are just a folder, rather than requiring them to be a zip.
This is great for anyone trying to develop a texturepack for NFC, as you can just change a texture and reload the texturepack without needing to worry about your computer complaining that the "file is in use", and needing you to shut down your entire Minecraft instance to make the change.

Pfaeff's Mods for NFC 1.8.6_02
(Requires ModLoader)
Made by Pfaeff
Pfaeff for NFC 1.8.6_02: www.mediafire.com/file/aw20xsrf0awqba7/Pfaeff_for_NFC_1.8.6_02.zip/file
This is a set of four separate mods included into one. Each separate mod adds in one new block, each with it's own purpose. Those are...
- The Allocator - Sucks items at the input and throws them out the output. Chests and dispensers will be used as the input/output as well as if it's just adjacent to it. Needs to have redstone signal applied to it in order to transfer items from one side to the other. (Can be used for the automatic collection of mods farm drops for example)
- The Chest Trap - This works exactly like the trapped chest that was added in modern, with it outputting a redstone signal when you open it
- The Fan - Pushes items horizontally away from it when a redstone signal is applied to the fan. Very helpful for pushing items into the allocator to be collected
- The Jump Pad - It's a trampoline!
All four of these mods are standard ModLoader mods, so you might be wondering why this mod magically has functional textures. What I did to make this mod work with NFC was bypass the texture loading issue entirely I've got with ModLoader and just slap the textures directly into the terrain.png. This means that all texturepack's need to be patched to support this mod and you need to make sure to install this mod directly to the jar, otherwise the textures won't show up in-game. However, it is 100% functional.

Bottom Chest Texture
(No Requirements)
Made by me
Bottom Chest Texture: www.mediafire.com/file/myniormikrep43t/Bottom_Chest_Texture_NFC_1.8.6_02.zip/file
Just a simple mod that patches the chest block to get the bottom side of it's texture from a distinct place on the texture grid, letting you set the top and bottom texture independently of one another
This will make any texturepack that isn't patched for this mod incompatible, as all of them will display a pink square (or whatever else the texturepack creators put there) on the bottom part of the chest texture.
Overall, I don't recommend this mod to anyone unless you're playing specifically with a pack that'd benefit from being able to set bottom and top chest textures independently of one another. One of which you can find here
Due to placement of the bottom chest texture within the terrain.png, this mod is incompatible with Pfaeff's mods from the post above. Specifically is' the fan texture that won't show up correctly, due to the active fan texture and the bottom chest texture using the same slot.
And here's some other stuff I didn't code or port but works perfectly fine with NFC + My Stuff
BetaTweaks v1.2.2
(Requires ModLoader)
Made by Rek
BetaTweaks: web.archive.org/web/20191119212033/https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/397852025586712576/641474941333798923/b1.7.3_BetaTweaks_v1.2.2_CLIENT.zip
BetaTweaks, a complex mod by Rek adding tons of useful tweaks and patches to various aspects of Minecraft gameplay. Some of the most notable ones are major improvements to the chat system, a built in FOV slider (which can replace the one built into NFC that's disabled when you install OptiFine), the ability to turn off achievement notifications, and several gameplay options that re-enable some features from older versions of Minecraft.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Held items will look broken by default upon installing this if you're not using OptiFine. To fix this, you either need to go into the BetaTweaks.cfg file in your NFC config folder and change the setting "disableEntityRendererOverride" to true, or install OptiFine.

Rei's Minimap
(ModLoader Optional)
Made by Rei
Rei's Minimap Download Page: mcarchive.net/mods/reiminimap - You can find both v1.0 and v1.8 on the bottom of the page.Note: Both versions work. v1.8 can have uq.class removed and have it work just as a ModLoader mod. v1.0 is basemod only and doesn't have any requirements.
Alongside all of this, a good amount of other Beta 1.7.3 mods will work perfectly fine with NFC. Examples being Rei's and Zan's minimap, MAtmos, Baby Animals, Block Distortion, my port of Hippoplatimus' Piston mod, and the Zeppelin mod. Basically, if it's small it'll work. You can take a look at the MCArchive if you want to mess around with some.
Plans for the future:
- A version of ModLoader that's able to show the textures of the mods you have installed
- Forge for NFC
- More ports of various mods to New Frontier Craft.
- And whatever else is fun and that I can get working with NFC
Also, a note for everyone reading this. Feel free to post your own mods and/or patches below this. The more the merrier
