Want to add pieces of literature into the official NFC code? Look no further.
As of now, the books are clientside only. There's no database storing the books yet, so right now we're working on a basic 100 pieces of literature to be added. That said, I am looking for more quality than quantity at the moment, so expect a few rejections on the works submitted at this time purely because this will be THE base 100. But even if rejected from the original 100, it will likely be stored for the main database in the future.
If your book gets into New Frontier Craft, say it becomes "Book 46", your book will always be "Book 46" for as long as NFC exists.
I'm looking for anything! Fantasy, experiences, short stories, history, Minecraft myths, poems, even persuasive essays that portray a strong view on something (Even if I disagree! I believe we must listen to all sides for the best of humanity). My only limitation is keep it family-friendly, which I won't be very strict on if it's a good read.
So, let's get to writing. To format a book, make a text file. The first line will be the author (20 character limit). The second will be the title which has a 60 character limit (and don't bet on that - sometimes more space is needed for formatting lines. A safe amount is 50 or less). The third line is a date - which can be something like "July 8, 2011" like it is in-game, or you could even set that to something like "Early Rome" (20 character limit). Any lines beyond that will be put on the pages of the book. If you want to make good-looking paragraph separations, I recommend putting two or three spaces after each indent. There are no tabs.
Depending on how big the average words you use are and how many indents you use, I recommend staying below 4500 words to be safe. Calculations show we probably can shove 5000 words into one book if necessary... but you're asking for issues at that length. I mean my biggest college papers have been around 2500 words so far, so I think the current limit is sufficient. If you have a longer story you want to add, I recommend splitting it up into multiple books and label them Vol. I, Vol. II, etc.
Once you have that, make a post on this thread and attach your work of literature to the post using the "Add Attachment" button. You can add three files at once.
Now get to writing!
