NFC 1.8.7_02 Mods & Addons
This is the central repository for all mods that have been made specifically for, or are intended or verified for use with, New Frontier Craft version 1.8.7_02.
For all of these mods, installation is accomplished through the classic method of installing mods; by adding them to the jar. For the Mojang launcher this means cramming the classes inside the jar manually. I however strongly recommend using MultiMC if you're going to be installing any mods for NFC
For MultiMC, jarmods are installed via the "Add to Minecraft.jar" button, with you selecting the relative zips that you're installing in the window that pops up.
You can find MultiMC on multimc.org and the MultiMC instance for NFC at the bottom of this page newfrontiercraft.net/thread/116/install-new-frontier-craft if you haven't already installed it

NFC Mod Compatibility List found here
This list acts as a more full list of mods that are verified for use with NFC, due to a desire to not pollute this page with every single compatible mod that works with NFC.
The Essentials
These will be the core mods that most other mods will require in order to be installed. If a mod needs another mod to be installed first in order to work, it'll be on this list.
ModLoader (v4.2)
(No Requirements)
Made by Risugami, reworked for NFC by Logan
Download: www.mediafire.com/file/ktfdmdlomqs9rnf/ModLoader+v4.2.zip/file
This is a port of ModLoader from Beta 1.7.3, patched to work with NFC 1.8.7. Mileage will vary on compatibility with other mods; most large things will crash. For a more full list on what generic Beta 1.7.3 mods will and won't work with ModLoader, I recommend taking a look at the NFC Mod Compatibility List above.
ModLoader for NFC is not a magic bullet that'll solve every compatibility issue with standard Beta 1.7.3 mods. Lots of mods interface with the normal Minecraft code through ModLoader and expect it to work one way, and when it doesn't because NFC changed how that part of the code works it'll likely either not work correctly or just straight up crash. However, it's a decent solution and will be improved as time progresses and better tweaks and solutions are thought of to improve compatibility.
Notes:
- You'll regularly run into ID Conflicts when trying to install other mods. If this happens, install ID Resolver, as it will fix that specific issue the vast majority of the time
- If you run out of texture sprites, install this www.mediafire.com/file/269vzuv3axjew3k/NFC+ModLoader+Texture+Hypercompressor+v1.0.zip/file
- ModLoader & Forge are going to become built in stock components to NFC in the future version, v4.0.0 (NFC 1.9.0).
To free up more texture slots, there's been a bit of re-engineering to how blocks and items are handled in-game.
Firstly, all NFC related items that were originally contained within the items.png have been moved to items2.png in the NFC directory. For any texturepack, you'll need to copy the items.png to the NFC directory and rename it to items2.png if you want the first set of NFC items to get loaded into the game.
The second thing I've done is I've adapted the stained wood and glass code to be applied also to the wool textures, meaning the 16 separate textures for wool now only take up 1 slot in the terrain.png. This raises the amount of block textures that NFC can load from 7 to 22. All wool textures with ModLoader installed will be derived from the base white wool texture.
(No Requirements)
Made by Risugami, reworked and ported to NFC by Logan
Download: www.mediafire.com/file/oegsdyn24vd3ny0/AudioMod+NFC+1.8.7_02.zip/file
This is a simple port of AudioMod to NFC, plus a tiny tweak to make it compatible with different resource folder locations. So it's fully compatible with MultiMC.
GuiAPI (v1.1)
(No Requirements)
Made by ShaRose, ported by Logan
Download: www.mediafire.com/file/hzkbc2rsoiasfdr/NFC_GuiAPI.zip/file
A mod that adds a button to the options screen that allows you to do in-game mod configuration.
ID Resolver (v1.2)
(Requires GuiAPI)
Made by ShaRose, ported by Logan
Solves the issue of ID conflicts within NFC alongside other mods. You will still run commonly into issues of running out of IDs though, so don't expect this to be the magical solution for playing IC2 and NFC at the same time.
Due to internal changes made within NFC in NFC 1.8.7_01 in regards to NFC item rendering being incompatible with ID Resolver, classes in relation to the change made were reverted to how they functioned in 1.8.7. These classes are RenderItem (bb.class) and ItemRenderer (ra.class).
ModLoaderMP (v1.0)
(Requires ModLoader)Made by ScottyDoesKnow and Jamioflan, ported by Logan
Client Download: www.mediafire.com/file/i3eo8vhv55wn4ru/ModLoaderMP_NFC_1.8.7.zip/file
This mod only serves the purpose of allowing mods to work that require ModLoaderMP to work regardless of whether you're playing in singleplayer or multiplayer. However, once a multiplayer version of ModLoaderMP is made for NFC, this will be compatible with that.
ItemSpriteAPI (v1.2)
(Requires ModLoader)
Made by scokeev9, ported by Logan
PlayerAPI (v1.7)
(No Requirements)
Made by Divisor, ported by Logan
Download: Postponed to NFC v3.4.0
ShockAhPI (r5.1)
(Requires ModLoader & PlayerAPI)
Made by Shockah, ported by Logan
Download: Postponed to NFC v3.4.0
Aesthetics
Contained in this category are graphical tweaks to the game. If it's just a minor aesthetic change, it's here
Panorama (v1.2)
(No Requirements)
Made by Mojang, ported by Logan
Download: www.mediafire.com/file/zk6d4e2zgitwb6v/Panorama_for_NFC_1.8.7_01.zip/file

A simple port of the panorama to the NFC main menu.
Nether Brightness Reducer (v1.0)
(No Requirements)
Made by Logan
Download: www.mediafire.com/file/gtj891l9tcd5zoi/Nether_1.8.7_Brightness_Reducer.zip/file

In 1.8.7 the overall brightness of the Nether was boosted slightly to make the dimension a bit more tolerable, as there's a bunch of new content featured there in this update and it was decided that being able to see it was a bit more important than the dimension being overly spooky. However, if you want to get that aspect of the Nether back, here's a mod for you

Bottom Chest Texture (v1.1)
(No Requirements)
Made by Logan
Download: www.mediafire.com/file/czdmp6tctzzncio/Bottom_Chest_Texture_NFC_1.8.7.zip/file

This is just a simple mod that uses one of the slots in the terrain.png for having a custom bottom texture to the chests. The texturepacks that currently take advantage of this mod are uwupack and the Coterie Craft port to NFC by Birevan
Adventure Update Tree Rendering for NFC (v1.1)
(Requires ModLoader)
Made by Logan

In Mojang's Beta 1.8, a change was made to block rendering where non-normal blocks would appear darker on the inside. This was most notable in the change to the rendering of trees. Via a couple of tweaks, this behavior has been ported to NFC 1.8.7_02.
This mod is not a port of the Beta 1.8 lighting engine to NFC. Day to night transitions, the overall darkness of the game, and the black and white lighting of NFC remain exactly the same as they are without this mod. This only seeks to mimic the behavior of one quirk of the newer lighting engine, not to port the thing wholesale

Enhancements
Stuff that's made to make your life easier when playing NFC. Recipe viewers, chat loggers, in-game maps, and featureset extensions that work to extend NFC even more than it already is are what you'll find here.
Advanced Tooltips (v1.0)
(No Requirements)
Made by Logan
This mod is a recreation of the information stats provided by modern tooltips. With this installed, whenever you hover over things like weapons, armor, and tools you can see stats like the durability of the item or the damage it's capable of doing.
Alongside this, you can now also see the music contained on the various music discs that NFC adds when hovering over the item.
A system very close to this will be added to the base game in NFC 1.8.8.
(Requires ModLoader)
Made by Rek
Download: www.mediafire.com/file/x4eytvot569jljy/b1.7.3_HowManyItems_PRE_c27.zip/file

How Many Items is basically for all intents and purposes a remake of Not Enough Items for Beta 1.7.3, and has most of the same functions that you'd find in that mod. If you want to see the in-game recipes for NFC, have a nice and convenient GUI to cheat in and search for items in the game, or to see some of the secret stuff we don't want you otherwise seeing, I recommend installing this mod

This is only a pre-release version at the moment, and therefore isn't really all that polished for NFC beyond the addition of the Brick Furnace GUI. If you run into random crashes for any reason while using the mod, please do report them so they can be fixed as soon as possible.
Texturepack Language Loader (v1.1)
(No Requirements)
Made by Logan
Download: www.mediafire.com/file/425pfe8jaccubyf/Texturepack+Language+Loader+v1.1+[NFC+1.8.7_02].zip/file
This is an incredibly simple mod that allows you to load custom language and font.txt files from texturepacks into the game. This means things like the Russian Translation for NFC that Birevan made can be slapped right into the texturepacks folder and loaded from there with this installed. Just place your custom font.txt file and en_US.lang files into the texturepack in the same places they would be contained in the normal NFC jar, and upon selecting that texturepack they'll load right into the game.
(Requires ModLoader, GuiAPI Recommended)

Download: web.archive.org/web/20191119212033/https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/397852025586712576/641474941333798923/b1.7.3_BetaTweaks_v1.2.2_CLIENT.zip
After installing, go into the BetaTweaks.cfg file in the config folder of your New Frontier Craft instance/Minecraft directory. Then, go to the disableEntityRendererOverride option and change the false to a true. Likewise, turn off Inventory Dragging under “draggingShortcuts”, as various interactions between this feature of BetaTweaks and NFC can cause the game to crash.
Also, I recommend you turn off Server List, Quit Game Button, ESC Menu Texture Pack Button, and the FOV Slider, as all are already part of NFC natively

BetaTweaks is a QOL Enhancement mod for Beta 1.7.3 It adds in many new little tweaks to the game that are able to accomplish various things. As noted in the compatibility notes, it has certain features that NFC already adds like a server list, the quit game button being native, a texture pack switching button in the escape menu, and an FOV slider. However, some of the more interesting features of BetaTweaks are things that work perfectly fine with NFC. For instance, old storage block textures from pre-Alpha 1.2, the ability to disable the rendering of tall grass and/or dead shrubs, the ability to disable achievement notifications, a scrollable controls menu, an improved chat that allows for configuration of the chat window, scrolling, copy and pasting of text, and other QOL improvements to the chat, and by changing the “Title Screen Logo” setting to Custom, the ability to customize the Minecraft logo text to whatever you might want.
On top of that, there’s also the gameplay settings, which allow you to change certain small aspects of your singleplayer gameplay in NFC. This includes things such as turning on wool dropping from sheep when you punch them, allowing for gaps in ladders, punching TNT to ignite it, hoeing grass for seeds, old fashioned Minecart boosters, and elevator boats. All of these are older quirks of how the earlier versions of Minecraft Beta used to work, and with BetaTweaks you can experience these in New Frontier Craft. Make sure to double check these features upon installing the mod though, in case you don’t want some of these features enabled on your world.
Chat Logger (v1.1)
(No Requirements)
Made by Logan
Download: www.mediafire.com/file/zvjmhdrefwfyms5/Chat_Logger_Mod_for_NFC_1.8.7.zip/file

A quasi-port of the modern system which Minecraft uses where it outputs the things said in chat into the Minecraft logs. Matches the same format of the modern game, that being what is seen in the attached screenshot.
This is great for archiving conversations and comments that you really like. Preventing you from having to constantly worry about needing to grab a screenshot of what's being discussed.
Cleaner F3 Menu (v1.0)
(No Requirements)
Made by Logan
Download: www.mediafire.com/file/r3h7go5pffo5h8o

This mod removes all of the pointless rendering information from the screen and the lagometer. Overall, things have been moved around so that the only things on the screen are the things the average user actually uses. That being the version number, coords, framerate, allocated and used RAM, world seed, and direction. Direction I'll note as well has been cleaned up in this version to actually name the direction you're facing, rather than just giving you a digit and you having to remember which digit correlates with which direction.
Expansions and Big Mods
There are a lot of larger mods out there for Minecraft that enhance gameplay. This section is dedicated towards stuff that adds in a large amount of new gameplay features and/or content. If it's a major gameplay expansion that was done by someone else and isn't ever intended to get added to NFC, it'll be here.
Better Than Wolves (v2.83)
(Requires ModLoader & ID Resolver)
Made by FlowerChild, patched for use with NFC by Logan

It's the Better Than Wolves mod, patched and fixed up to work with New Frontier Craft!
More information about the mod can be found on the forum page, which explains the installation process (XDelta patches galore), and gives a run-down on some of the basic information to the mod.
The stuff in this category isn't really meant to fit any sort of niche during gameplay. Stuff here was created solely for the purpose of having fun with

You Are The Fox (v1.2)
(No Requirements)
Model and texture originally sourced from DrZhark, mod created entirely by Logan
Download: www.mediafire.com/file/0lf312y7a6rrpyq/YATF+v1.2+[NFC+1.8.7_02].zip/file
MP Compatible Download: Postponed to NFC v3.4.0
Note: You cannot go through 1 block openings while using the MP Compatible version of the mod

Turns your player into a fox! Changes the player to be only one block tall to match, letting you slip through smaller openings and the like. Also, blocks, items, and tools are held in the mouth of the fox, as it'd be silly for a fox to hold a tool in its paw
If it wasn't clear, this mod is heavily inspired by the YATC mod by Rotten194
The skinfix has been disabled for obvious reasons, that being the fact that normal skins obviously won't at all work with the fox skin. This fox skin can be edited via the fox.png file in the mob directory in your jar or texturepack zip
Rainbow Tooltips (v1.0)
(No Requirements)
Made by Logan
Download: www.mediafire.com/file/ow7rph2jkih3ux2/Rainbow_Tooltips.zip/file

It makes the text when you hover over stuff in your inventory go through a rainbow of colors
That's it

New Frontier (v1.0)
(No Requirements)
Made by Logan
Removes Crafting
Experimental Features
One concept moving forward is going to be the idea of experimental features. This is stuff that might or might not ever see the light of day in a real NFC update, but that seem interesting or useful enough to be something players can turn on and off at will.
Modern Smooth Camera (v1.0)
(No Requirements)
Made by Mojang, ported by Logan
Just a simple port of the modern more cinematic smooth camera behavior
(No Requirements)
Made by Logan
Download: www.mediafire.com/file/m6zjspw3czkm87y/SSP+Sprinting+(v2.0).zip/file

Just a tiny little tweak to the code that lets you sprint in singleplayer survival; making it so the game decides whether or not you can sprint depending on whether you're in a multiplayer world or not instead of your current gamemode.
F3 Mob Tags (v1.0)
(No Requirements)
Made by Logan
Download: www.mediafire.com/file/44rx0x74fzatgow/F3_Mob_Tags_for_NFC_1.8.7.zip/file

This is just a tiny little tweak that reverts a change made in 1.8.7, in which the F3 mob tags were removed. All this mod does is re-enable the code that handles this feature.
Static Liquid Side Texture Fix (v1.0)
(No Requirements)
Made by DirtPiper, ported to NFC by Logan
Download: www.mediafire.com/file/s7z5idz2r3trcr7/Static+Liquid+Side+Texture+Fix.zip/file

Patches the side texture of non-flowing liquid to not look like it's flowing. This will likely be added to NFC 1.8.8 as a stock feature. The code for this is taken from the Not So Seecret Saturday mod by DirtPiper for Alpha 1.1.2_01, which you can read more about here
